The play
Someone launches a memecoin, points the trading fees at a person or charity who never asked for it, then hunts them until they claim. The claim itself becomes the pump.
This is not a Bags one-off around Steve Yegge. It is a family of plays: GitHub PDAs on Pump, Get Bagged on Bags, handle redirects on Bankr, charity-coin DMs, GitHub impersonation, marks who refuse, marks who stay on 1% until they can migrate for the fees — and desks (migrate.fun, Socialify) that productize the hunt. This binder maps rails, names, money, sensors, and the next query. It is a research system, not a story assignment.

Round 1
Name the play
The user pattern matches a permissionless fee-share: launch a coin, assign creator royalties to a GitHub/X identity, then pressure that identity to claim. Bags ($GAS) is the canonical write-up; Pump.fun GitHub PDAs made it daily.

Round 2
Yegge / Huntley as the origin story
Matt Levine called it “memecoin venture capital.” Yegge’s Medium piece is the best primary. Sean Goedecke’s essay is the first serious ethical counter. Huntley is the social-proof bait used on later marks.

Round 3
Pump.fun industrializes it
Feb 2026: GitHub creator fee sharing. Official Medium “claiming guide” for people who never launched a coin. Claims bots, spoofed claim txs, LinkedIn InMails, and copy-paste bagworker scripts are now tooling, not folklore.
- deep
Round 4
Live mark: Lucipher / Flurry
25–26 Aug 2026: a Jito engineer is InMailed about a Pump coin pointed at his GitHub, claims, and tries to bond it. Same day, other bagworkers are DMing cancer charities and random GitHubs with identical scripts.
- broad
Round 5
Adjacent paths
Vamping (fee redirect after traction), GitHub notification phishing, fake CLAW airdrops, spoofed social-fee claims that look like endorsement, celebrity rugs (HAWK), and Pump GO bounties as circular grift.
- deep
Round 6
The opposition brief
Sean Goedecke (17 Jan 2026): the coins add nothing to the repos — “from a technical perspective, the answer is nothing.” He calls it airdrop-pump-and-dump as a service. That is the opposition brief that keeps the map from becoming a Bags advertorial.

Round 7
The variation map
The play is a family. Rails: Pump GitHub PDA, Bags Get Bagged (up to 100 claimers), Bankr --fee @handle, Socialify as a launch-for-you website, Believe scouts. Marks: OSS, celebrities (Roemmele), charities (LCFA $SLEEP, Rainforest), orgs that brick funds, agents. Claim events: InMail, peer-cashed closers, spoof txs, GitHub impersonation with backdated commits, organic-bagging theater. Aftermaths: bond-with-fees, drafted-as-dev, public refusal (Steinberger), refund (Gajesh), stuck claim UIs, vamping, CTO reroutes, handle theft, 1% and a smile (Project89 stay-then-migrate).
- deep
Round 8
The mark who said no
Gap closed in outline, not in interviews. Steinberger (27 Jan 2026): “I will never do a coin… I will not accept fees” — 388k views, then a Discord crypto ban after a ~$16M fake token. Gajesh/Sovra (21 Feb 2026): third unsolicited token that month; refunded $17k to 545 wallets on Base. That is the ethical scene the map was missing.

Round 9
Guides as sensors
Pump’s claiming guide is a tracking device. It tells marks to connect GitHub, claim one “canonical” token, then post a public statement (“I’ve decided to claim the fees for [TOKEN]”). Bagworkers paste the Medium URL as a hunting license. First-time claim_social_fee_pda is already a Telegram alpha feed. Following those fingerprints in one pass surfaced Scotty Beam, Carsen Klock (Bags claimer → Pump sequel), Oli’s two-week unclaimed GitHub pile, AGENT 37, DVLPLONDON, and a daily drizzle of pump.fun/coin links under GitHub bios.

Round 10
The mark who stayed
Project89 / Parzival is on-record and predates Pump’s GitHub PDA. 24 Oct 2024: unsolicited $PROJECT89 on his ARG; he stayed. Official thread, 19 Aug 2025: “He didn’t launch the token… given 1% and a smile. Then it blew up. Others made millions while he got nothing.” 4 Oct 2025: migrated to Bonk Fun so trading fees finally fund the studio. Named @MigrateFun as the rail. Fourth aftermath — not claim-as-pump, not refusal, not refund. Stay, then capture the cashflow. Logged even if it never leads. Doctrine: many is good.

Round 11
CTO via migrate.fun
The user-supplied line — “They migrated / CTO via my platform migrate.fun for full transparency” — is the industrial voice of the stay-and-capture aftermath. Migrate.fun productizes takeovers: unlock LP, mint MFT receipts, reprint the coin where the new team earns trading fees; unmigrated supply becomes treasury (HUSTLE: 77% migrated, 23% to team, 869 SOL unlocked). Pump already had an honest path (Jul 2025 CTO fee form, 1.2M views, [email protected]). The migration is the bypass, and it mints a second claim event aimed at holders. Same week, Catcoin’s dual-chain Pump relaunch is live — and a cloud of @MigrateFunCTO accounts is DMing “follow back for a step by step Claim-Pad.” The official how-to is a tracking device. Permalink of the user quote still unfound; treat as founder-voice until sourced.

Round 12
Launch-for-you: keep Socialify, kill Spark
Socialify.fun is live: a GPT-Engineer SPA that productizes the ambush. Anyone types a username on 19+ platforms (GitHub, TikTok, X, Pornhub…). Socialify deploys on Pump, captures 100% of creator fees into escrow, minus an unpublished “small service fee.” The mark opts in after the fact by pasting a claim code into their public bio; a scraper watches. If they never claim, the deployer reclaims the “gift.” Official $SOC (J8WUkk…pump) launched 16 Apr 2026, ATH ~$9k, now ~$28 on the curve. Operator unnamed; JS points at @SocialifySolana; creator wallet FJ3rPDt…. Spark (sprk.gg) is dead — Vercel DEPLOYMENT_NOT_FOUND. @sprkdotgg spent 21–22 Aug launching $SPRK as “back the creators you love,” with Sign-in-with-X and TikTok bio-link claims, then the product vanished. Kill Spark as a live rail. Keep it as a four-day wrapper that rugged its own site. New variation: custodial escrow with a clawback. New sensor: the bio edit.

Round 13
Socialify operator hunt (negative)
Loop prompt who-runs-Socialify. Operator still unnamed. @SocialifySolana has no posts. $SOC creator FJ3rPDt… holds 0 SOL; June 2026 signatures that touch the address are PumpSwap buys signed by other wallets, not operator deploys. No contact email (placeholder [email protected]). Service-fee percent is not in the JS. /gift /admin /dashboard are SPA-gated. Lovable/GPT-Engineer fingerprint on the SPA. $SOC usd_market_cap ~$2.7k — the ~$28 figure was Pump’s SOL-unit market_cap field, not dollars. g13 stays open. Next pass needs a login-gated scrape or a new breadcrumb, not the same empty searches.

Round 14
Catcoin window + Claim-Pad cluster
Loop prompt p-catcoin. mig221 is live: 30.61% (306,147,073 of 1B CAT) deposited, ~12d remaining. Homepage window 18 Aug–7 Sep 2026. Receipt rate 50M CAT = 1 MFT. Powered by Emblem Vault. Official how-to 19 Aug: SOL one tx; BNB two wallets then claim MFT. @catcoin posted four “we will NEVER DM you first / we have NO support account” warnings in six days, and on 25 Aug asked holders about pulling BNB liquidity to force the rest across. Impersonators arrived the same week on recycled pre-2015 Twitter IDs (@MigrateFunCTO, @MigrateFun_CTO, @Migratefun_DEX, @MigrateFunCS, @MigrateFun_T) plus costume names (@noahscholes_ “Lead Dev,” @CptoOvejaNegr “Kirk Behke | CTO,” @goodtraveloffer “Carl Williamson | CatCoin Support”). Script: Claim-Pad, follow back, step by step, synchronize your wallet with the contract deployer, withdraw from Gate.io to Phantom. Named holders: @Ovickyoung (“you are the scammer” after using an app they were sent), @ttvtt0304 (Gate.io), @Dandy09097 (wallet connect). No on-record drain this pass. Unmigrated 69.4% is not treasury until the window closes — log the number, don’t treat it as captured.
